The Pola Museum of Art is holding its 20th anniversary exhibition, "From Monet to Richter: Focusing on New Acquisitions," from April 9, 2022, to September 6, 2022.

In planning this exhibition, we have chosen "light" as the primary theme. Collecting and exhibiting contemporary artworks themed around "light" is an important mission for the Pola Museum of Art, which places Impressionist paintings as an important starting point for its collection. While Impressionist painters such as Claude Monet pursued the expression of light, a strong interest in light can also be seen in the works of contemporary artists such as Gerhard Richter and Cerith Wyn Evans.

The "light" that appears in their works not only has a sculptural meaning, but also embodies the meaning of "light" that illuminates the present and serves as a guidepost for us to move toward a sustainable future. In today's world, where dark clouds hang over us due to the COVID-19 pandemic and tense international situations, the energy, momentum, and bright "light" that emanates from these works may inspire many people to move forward. This exhibition will introduce the "present" of the Pola Museum of Art's collection, while exploring the future of the museum and the possibilities of its collection.
