A limited-edition shop for the luxury accessory brand "discord Yohji Yamamoto," by Yohji Yamamoto Inc., will open at the Isetan Shinjuku store from September 16th to 22nd, located in the Handbags/Promotion section on the first floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building.
One thing worth noting is the unprecedented capsule collection being released exclusively for this occasion. Discord collaborated with three artists: illustrator Yoshitaka Amano, photographer Hiroyuki Arakawa, and painter Yuka Asakura, to create bags, leather goods, and scarves. This capsule collection will be available first at the Isetan Shinjuku store and the Mitsukoshi Ginza Main Store, which just opened on the 9th. It will also be available at other Yohji Yamamoto stores.
The collaboration with Yoshitaka Amano features a simple black and white design, typical of Yohji Yamamoto, featuring illustrations created specifically for this occasion by Amano. Hiroyuki Arakawa, who has been providing work to Discord since their debut season, also used the theme of "translucency" for the 2015-16 Autumn/Winter main collection, photographing flowers such as calla lilies and lilies using X-rays. This time, he has created new items exclusive to the capsule collection.
Yuka Asakura's work features motifs of "flowers" and the female "body." Asakura commented, "Humans crave a sense of contradiction: we hide while wearing something, and express ourselves by being covered," expressing the contradictions and intrigue of "dressing" in this collaboration.
In addition to the capsule collection, visitors to the limited shop at Isetan Shinjuku will be greeted with a wide range of items, including the "Corset series," the main focus of the 2015-16 Autumn/Winter season, as well as a variety of handbags, backpacks, clutch bags, wallets, and scarves. Discord, which embodies Yohji Yamamoto's philosophy of "incompleteness" and "asymmetrical" aesthetics, is already in its third season. At the limited shop, you can see the brand's expanded worldview.
