An 8m-long mirror ball lights up at the Nordic Christmas Market at Umeda Hankyu

Dec 2, 2015

An 8-meter-long "Mirror Ball Himmeli" will be exhibited at the Hankyu Umeda Main Store's 9th floor Festival Plaza until December 25th as part of a Christmas event.

Himmeli is a traditional Finnish ornament meaning "heaven" in Swedish. The "Mirror Ball Himmeli," an illumination installation modeled after Himmeli, is a spatial installation by the Mirror Ballers, an art collective comprised of members from various fields, including photographers, artists, lighting designers, and interior designers. Approximately 80 clear mirror balls illuminated by LEDs from the floor create a fantastical atmosphere.

A Nordic Christmas market will be held beneath Himmeli, featuring authentic Finnish items and the first appearance of handmade artists. Live music and other events will also be held, creating a space filled with a Nordic Christmas atmosphere.

A special illumination show will be held from the top of every hour for approximately five minutes, featuring music and four light themes (sacred, aurora, dynamic, and prayer).
