Sanyo Yamacho, a men's shoe brand developed by Sanyo Shokai, is pleased to announce the release of the third installment of its "Prestige Line," a hit product launched in spring 2021 as a culmination of the brand's 20-year history. The "Kinsei Yahichirou" will be available simultaneously at five Sanyo Yamacho stores and the company's direct online store, "Sanyo i-Store," on April 8th. The "Prestige Line" is a top-grade series that brings together 20 years of expertise. Based on the concept of "creating a pair of shoes that are as close to bespoke as possible," the series is crafted with the highest quality from leather to finishing. Six models have been released to date, all of which have been well-received by customers. This spring, the series aims to create the pinnacle of loafers that create an elegant and light impression, and is recommended for customers seeking high-quality style for both work and play.

Sanyo Yamacho "Prestige Line" Third Release "Specially Selected Yashiro"
Background to Product Development
Even as business styles continue to diversify and demand for business items declines due to the promotion of remote work amid the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a strong consumer trend of carefully selecting and purchasing only what people really want, such as "high-quality staple items that can be used for a long time" and "a special item that suits them."

~Sanyo Yamacho's Top Grade Series is Popular~
To mark the 20th anniversary of the brand's founding in 2021, men's shoe brand Sanyo Yamacho has launched a total of six models in its "Prestige Line," a top-grade series that brings together 20 years of technology, and has received a positive response from business people who demand quality. Against this backdrop, the company has decided to launch "Kinsei Yashiro," a skin-stitch loafer that makes full use of rare materials and artisanal techniques, as the third installment in the "Prestige Line," in order to propose a new, top-of-the-line style to customers this spring.

About Sanyo Yamacho's Manufacturing Process

Made by craftsmen with extensive shoe knowledge
~ Made in the Mecca of Japanese Leather Shoemaking ~
Goodyear welt leather shoes (※1), the essence of Sanyo Yamacho, are made in a long-established shoe factory founded in 1949 in Asakusa, known as the Mecca of Japanese leather shoemaking.
In a typical shoe factory, each process is divided into detailed tasks, with each craftsman responsible for a specific step. However, at the factory that produces Sanyo Yamacho shoes, the sole attachers also handle finishing touches such as welt coating, and different processes are handled on different days. Each craftsman has a wide range of responsibilities, which allows them to have an intimate knowledge of shoes. Each process is done by hand, and the craftsmen cherish the art of making "good shoes," which has been passed down and updated over a long history. By producing shoes in such a factory, the quality of Sanyo Yamacho is maintained.
*1) Goodyear welt construction: A manufacturing method in which the upper is hung on the insole of the shoe, a rod-shaped leather called a welt is wrapped around it and sewn on, and finally the welt and outsole are sewn on.

About Sanyo Yamacho's "Prestige Line" and "Specially Crafted Yashiro"

【Prestige Line Concept】

Prestige Line engraving (left) and engraved text (right)
Based on the concept of "creating a pair of shoes that are as close to bespoke as possible," everything from the leather to the finishing touches is made with the highest quality. The insole (half sole) is also engraved with the words "Specially Made in Japan," expressing the image of custom-made shoes (atsuraeguts = bespoke shoes), differentiating them from the regular line.

【Last】 ...Uses the new loafer last, "R2010S"
The "R2010S" used in "Kinsei Yashiro" is the signature last, "R2010," which pursues the ideal beauty and comfort for Japanese people, adjusted for loafers. The arch curve is slightly gentler and the instep line is kept lower, resulting in a comfortable fit that wraps around the foot. Furthermore, the heel cup, which tends to slip out, has been made more compact, providing an excellent hold. While it's said that it's difficult to achieve an optimal fit with laceless loafers, these shoes have been designed to offer a comfortable fit that defies that belief.

【Finishing】 ... Abundant use of leather with minimal seams
The upper of the "Kinsei Yashiro" shoe is made from just three pieces of leather, excluding accessories, to minimize seams and maximize beauty. In typical shoemaking, high quality is achieved by cutting out flawless sections from a single piece of leather and joining them together. On the other hand, since each part of the "Kinsei Yashiro" is large, we carefully select leather in the best condition and use it in a wide cut, pursuing the best finish.

【Material】 ... Made with the highest quality material produced by a long-established tannery
As with the previous "Prestige Line," the upper leather is produced by HAAS, a top French tannery. "Kinsei Yashiro" uses grained leather soaked in oil, known as "Utah Calf," which has an exquisitely "soft feel." In addition to a rich, vintage-inspired texture, these shoes are also characterized by a soft feel. Their excellent suppleness contributes to their comfortable fit.

[Specifications] ... A lightweight loafer with bespoke-quality finish
Welt: The sole welt is carved into a triangular shape using the "yahazu" technique, a technique unique to Japanese footwear. Compared to typical flat or round welts, the edges are sharper, creating a sharper impression.
Heel: The seamless heel accentuates the beautiful curves of the shoes. Combined with the pitched heel, which tapers slightly toward the bottom, the design creates a graceful, flowing silhouette from behind.
Toe: The toe features "skin stitching," a technique only practiced by a select few artisans in the world. This technique involves threading a few millimeters of leather and sewing it without allowing it to penetrate through to the other side.

【Name Previous] ....Model names that symbolize "Made in Japan" and the thoughts behind "carefully crafted" Since the brand's founding, all Sanyo Sancho dress shoes have had model names written in kanji. To express that the brand is a domestically produced men's shoe brand, with each pair made by Japanese shoemakers, the product names are not simply numbers, but are a series of numbers that evoke people, starting with Sanyo Sancho's representative model "Toujiro," followed by "Kanzaburo," "Genshiro," and "Chogoro." In the Prestige line, all models are labeled "carefully crafted," expressing Sanyo Sancho's determination to "create the finest leather shoes in Japan with sincerity" on the occasion of the brand's 20th anniversary.
