The first collaboration between these two designers, who have built the foundations of Japanese fashion over their nearly 50-year careers, is taking place at a gallery in Ginza.

"Akio Mori x Hiroko Koshino The Beauty - Inspiration, Sparkle, Brilliance," which began on December 4th at KH Gallery Ginza, displays jewelry designer Akio Mori's accessories, now in his 48th year of creative work, alongside Hiroko Koshino's archived works as a canvas. Approximately 30 accessories are lavishly studded on five clothing items.

Mori began his creative career in 1966, inspired by ivory and tortoiseshell jewelry while living in Paris. He is also known for his long history of designing accessories for designers at Paris Fashion Week, opera and film accessories, and especially for Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's stage accessories.

Surprisingly, this project marks the first time that Akio Mori and Hiroko Koshino, who has been creating collections for over 50 years, have collaborated on this project. Mori, who has known Hiroko since their teenage years as friends with her sister, Junko Koshino, says, "Hiroko is someone I admire and find very intimidating. When she asked me if we could do something together this spring and at the end of the year, I was skeptical."

The dragonfly that was a hand-drawn motif on the dress that marked the finale of the 16SS collection, presented in October, has been transformed into a three-dimensional accessory by Mori, perched on the dress, in this exhibition. "Isn't it interesting to display accessories like this?" Hiroko laughs. Prints, which she has worked on for the first time, will also be on display, and visitors will be amazed by her energetic creative activities, which include painting and calligraphy.
