This fall, contemporary master craftsman Osamu Shuto, recipient of the Medal with Yellow Ribbon, will celebrate his 60th birthday with a solo exhibition at Isetan Salone in Tokyo Midtown, Roppongi, from the 2nd to the 8th. "I had long wanted to hold a once-in-a-lifetime solo exhibition on my 60th birthday," Shuto said. Titled "Osamu Shuto: From Stillness to Motion," the exhibition will feature 17 new pieces as well as 29 archive pieces, including pieces from private collections, with some for sale. Shuto is a highly respected contemporary master craftsman known for his work on many of Japan's finest jewelry brands, and many fans have long awaited his work. He is also a certified first-class craftsman at the National Skills Examination, boasting impressive technical skills, including a gold medal and a Minister's Award at the national "Skills Grand Prix" competition. His diverse works include the "Picture Series," which features motifs of nature, such as flowing leaf motifs; a musical instrument series, which are assembled one by one from intricate parts; and pieces featuring adorable animal motifs. It is said that only Mr. Shuto could achieve such intricate craftsmanship, which brings out the brilliance of materials such as gemstones and metals while creating delicate expressions. While these sublime works of art are packed with intricate detail and skill, they also have a gentle quality that conveys Mr. Shuto's thoughts and personality.
In addition to works available for purchase, the exhibition will also feature pieces from private collections on loan from owners. This is the first large-scale exhibition to bring together approximately 50 pieces, and it aims to trace Mr. Shuto's career to date, marking the milestone of his 60th birthday.
The collection, which reflects Mr. Shuto's refined aesthetic sense, is worth a visit. Don't miss this opportunity to fully appreciate the charm of the meticulous handcrafting of Japanese jewelry. At the same time, Isetan Salone will be hosting a plethora of events to brighten up the holiday season, including the tableware collection "Franck Muller Future Home" by Franck Muller and the exclusive Christmas collection from Chloe. Why not immerse yourself in a luxurious atmosphere in a space surrounded by beautiful things?
