Inoue Brothers releases a video of their alpaca project at an altitude of 4000m in Peru

Dec 19, 2015

The Inoue Brothers, known for their ethical manufacturing and a commitment to distinguishing themselves from mass-produced goods, have partnered with the Pacomarca Alpaca Institute in Peru, which develops and refines alpaca fiber, to develop the world's highest quality "Supreme Royal Alpaca®." A short film explaining the project's background has been released.

Pacomarca was established in the Andes Mountains, over 4,000 meters above sea level, with the goal of ensuring economic stability and preserving the lifestyle of indigenous alpaca farmers who graze alpacas. Peru's more than 3 million alpacas lack data on their lineage, production volume, and quality, due to a lack of government and educational support. To address this, the company provides specialized veterinary care and training in the latest scientific techniques for raising and shearing alpacas. The goal is to improve fiber quality and increase farmers' profitability without the need for expensive equipment. Inoue Brothers travels to Peru to develop knitwear, scarves, and other products made from yarn in collaboration with local producers. They plan to expand their projects using high-quality alpaca fiber from the Andes region, contributing to the development and revitalization of indigenous communities. Inoue Brothers was founded in 2004 by brothers Satoshi and Kiyofumi Inoue, who were born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark. They are known for their knitwear and blankets made from Peruvian piñas, their support projects for factories affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, and their collaborations with Comme des Garçons, Lacoste, Swarovski, and Monocle Magazine.
