The documentary film "Chef Gaston Acurio: A Delicious Revolution Beyond Gourmet Food," which explores the true face of Peruvian national hero and chef Gastón Acurio and his passion for transforming his country through food, is scheduled for release on November 14th. The film's poster visual has also been unveiled.
Food is one of the most important elements of a country's identity, with the power to improve people's lives and unite the nation. The film portrays the true face of chef Gastón Acurio, who, despite not being a politician or revolutionary, brought about a major revolution in his country through his unwavering dream and passion to "share his country's wonderful culture with the world."
Gastón Acurio opened the restaurant "Astrid & Gaston" in his home country in 1994 at the age of 25 with his wife, and has saved the country and its people by serving their exceptional cuisine to many. More than just a chef, he has never forgotten to express gratitude and help for food and its producers, and he has even founded a culinary school where even poor children can study, transcending the category of "gourmet food" and continuing to bring pride and hope to his country and its people.
The film also features chefs René Redzepi, Massimo Bottura, and Alex Atala, all of whom are listed in the top 10 of "The World's 50 Best Restaurants," a list of the world's 50 best restaurants. It also features people close to Gastón Acurio, including those involved in food production in Peru and children studying cooking at the school.
The film will have an advance premiere at the 6th Tokyo Food Film Festival, which will be held from October 31st to November 13th.
The film "Gastón Acurio: A Delicious Revolution Beyond Gourmet" will be released nationwide starting November 14th at Theater Image Forum and other theaters.
