TUDOR is a Swiss watch brand offering mechanical watches that promise unique value, sophisticated style, and unwavering reliability. Throughout history, TUDOR watches have been chosen by the most fearless adventurers and seasoned professionals.
In April 2022, TUDOR will launch a new lineup, led by the BLACK BAY PRO, featuring the BLACK BAY GMT S&G and BLACK BAY CHRONO S&G, both of which feature steel and yellow gold cases.
BLACK BAY PRO (Scheduled for release in April)
BLACK BAY PRO
The Black Bay Pro is a technical watch with an entirely new design. It features a 39mm case, a fixed steel bezel and an integrated manufacture calibre with GMT function.
The new Black Bay Pro features a dual time zone function, allowing you to display the local time while traveling without having to keep track of the original time. Compact, rugged and sporty, this model exudes a unique functional beauty and embodies the spirit of the technical watches that Tudor has created for professionals throughout its history. Featuring a fixed, satin-finished bezel with a 24-hour scale and a striking yellow "snowflake"-style 24-hour hand, the Black Bay Pro is powered by the Manufacture Calibre MT5652 with integrated GMT function.
ADVENTURER SPIRIT AND TECHNICAL AESTHETICS
Throughout the brand's history, Tudor watches have been chosen by the brand's most intrepid adventurers. 70 years ago, Tudor watches were worn by the 30 British explorers who embarked on a two-year expedition to North Greenland to study the Arctic ice. Tudor founder Hans Wilsdorf provided the expedition members with watches. Having recently created the brand's first waterproof, automatic watch, the Oyster Prince, Hans recognized no better environment to test the performance of his watches than the harsh Arctic climate. The Black Bay Pro is a tool watch designed for professionals, inspired by the heritage of instruments that powered pioneering adventurers. While part of the Black Bay collection, it boasts numerous unique design details. For example, the crown has been redesigned for maximum grip. Reminiscent of the curves of Tudor's historic technical watch crowns, this new component is contoured to the side of the caseband to conceal any visible tubes. Another new feature is the monobloc luminescent ceramic applied hour markers. This not only significantly increases the luminous surface area of the hour markers, but also enhances the Black Bay Pro's functional aesthetic. Furthermore, the watch is equipped with the "T-fit" self-sizing adjustment system, allowing the wearer to adjust the length by 8 mm in five steps with a simple, tool-free operation.
TWO TIME ZONES
On the Black Bay Pro, a yellow "snowflake" hand that rotates around the dial once every 24 hours indicates the time at the wearer's home time. Local time is displayed by the shorter "snowflake" hand, which jumps forward or backward, and can be adjusted in either direction. The date, displayed in an aperture at 3 o'clock, is linked to the local time hand; so, when this hand is moved backward at midnight while adjusting the time, the numeral in the aperture instantly jumps to the previous day. A unique and sophisticated feature, truly practical for the wearer.
THE MANUFACTURE CALIBRE MT5652
The Black Bay Pro is equipped with the integrated Manufacture Caliber MT5652, developed by TUDOR, with integrated GMT function. The use of a manufacture movement, designed from the outset to incorporate new functions rather than relying on add-on modules, demonstrates Tudor's commitment to its technological development process. While the watch has been officially certified as a Swiss chronometer, which requires a movement deviation of -4 to +6 seconds per day, Tudor has gone even further, achieving a precision deviation of -2 to +4 seconds per day when assembled.
STEEL BRACELET OR JACQUARD-WOVEN OR LEATHER STRAP
The fabric strap is from Julien Faure, a family-run company based in Saint-Étienne, France, for over 150 years. The Black Bay Pro comes with a black fabric strap with a yellow center line. This model is also available with a steel rivet bracelet inspired by models from the 1950s and 1960s. This historic bracelet is known for its distinctive design, created by the stepped links and the rivet heads used to fasten them. The modern bracelet utilizes modern manufacturing methods to integrate solid links with laser-etched rivet heads, recreating these two hallmarks of the famous bracelet. Alternatively, a black leather and rubber hybrid strap with a folding clasp is also available.
BLACK BAY GMT S&G (Released April 1st)
BLACK BAY GMT S&G
Tudor's iconic Black Bay GMT is now available in an S&G (Steel and Gold) version, featuring a warm color scheme and a nostalgic look. It is equipped with an integrated manufacture calibre with a built-in GMT function.
The Black Bay GMT S&G boasts an extremely functional multi-time zone mechanism, which allows it to display the local time of the wearer while also displaying two additional times. Featuring a striking two-tone rotating bezel with a 24-hour scale representing day and night, this model celebrates a time-honored watchmaking function with delicate beauty.
THREE TIME ZONES
The Black Bay GMT S&G features a slender "snowflake" hand that rotates around the dial once every 24 hours, indicating the wearer's home time. Local time is displayed by a shorter "snowflake" hand, which can be adjusted forward or backward using a jumping hour system. The date, displayed in an aperture at 3 o'clock, is linked to the local time hand; so, when this hand is moved backward at midnight while adjusting the time, the numeral in the aperture instantly jumps to the previous day. This is a unique yet sophisticated feature, truly practical for the wearer. Furthermore, the bidirectional rotating bezel with a 24-hour scale, combined with the 24-hour hand, allows the wearer to track a third time zone. The anodized aluminum bezel disc features a gold scale indicating light hours in brown sections and dark hours in black sections.
THE MANUFACTURE CALIBRE MT5652
The Black Bay GMT S&G is equipped with the same integrated Manufacture Caliber MT5652 with GMT function developed by Tudor as the Black Bay Pro.
STEEL AND GOLD BRACELET OR JACQUARD-WOVEN OR LEATHER STRAP
The fabric strap is from Julien Faure, a family-run company in Saint-Étienne, France, for over 150 years. The Black Bay GMT S&G comes with a black fabric strap with a beige center line. This model is also available with a steel and yellow gold rivet bracelet inspired by models from the 1950s and 1960s. This historic bracelet is known for its distinctive design, created by its stepped links and the rivet heads used to fasten them. The modern bracelet utilizes modern manufacturing methods to integrate solid links with laser-etched rivet heads, restoring these two hallmarks of the famous bracelet. Alternatively, a light-colored stitched brown leather strap with a folding clasp is also available.
BLACK BAY CHRONO S&G (Released April 1st)
BLACK BAY CHRONO S&G
This steel and yellow gold chronograph exudes a particularly chic aura within the Black Bay collection. This model, featuring a high-performance manufacture caliber, expresses the purest expression of sports watch tradition.
The Tudor Oysterdate, the brand's first chronograph, was launched in 1970. Since then, the brand has maintained close ties with motorsport, and Tudor's diver watches have similarly evolved since 1954. The Black Bay Chrono S&G is the result of a collaboration between these two traditions, from land to sea. Beneath the dial, which provides a powerful contrast with the sub-counters, lies a high-performance manufacture caliber with a column wheel and vertical clutch.
THE SPIRIT OF EARTH AND SEA
While remaining true to the Black Bay aesthetic with Tudor's iconic "snowflake" hands since 1969, this model's domed dial, recessed counters, and contrasting matte black and champagne colors ensure exceptional legibility. The watch features a 45-minute counter at 9 o'clock and a calendar at 6 o'clock, while the two sub-counters feature a circular graining finish. The yellow gold pushers are inspired by Tudor's early chronographs. The fixed yellow gold bezel features a black anodized aluminum insert and a tachymeter, giving the watch a sporty look.
Jacquard Strap, Steel and Gold Bracelet, or Band
The Black Bay Chrono S&G is paired with a black fabric strap from Julien Faure, a family-run company in Saint-Étienne, France, for over 150 years. This timepiece is also available with a steel and yellow gold rivet bracelet inspired by models from the 1950s and 1960s. This historic bracelet is known for its unique design, featuring stepped links and the rivet heads that secure them. The modern bracelet, using cutting-edge manufacturing methods, integrates solid links with laser-etched rivet heads, restoring two of the storied bracelet's defining features. Alternatively, an aged leather strap with a bundt finish and off-white stitching and a folding clasp is available, truly embodying the watch's ties to motorsport dating back to the 1970s.
MANUFACTURE CHRONOGRAPH CALIBRE MT5813
The Black Bay Chrono S&G's Manufacture Chronograph Caliber MT5813 provides the hours, minutes, seconds, chronograph, and date functions. The one-piece tungsten rotor is openworked and sandblasted with a satin-finish. The bridges and mainplate are sandblasted and polished with laser-etched decoration. The movement offers a power reserve of approximately 70 hours and is equipped with an anti-magnetic silicon balance spring. It has been certified as a Swiss Official Chronometer and meets even higher standards. The same is true of the MT5813, featuring a vertical clutch and column wheel, which is the result of the technology and tradition of truly committed watchmaking. This movement is based on Breitling's manufacture caliber, the Breitling 01, and combines it with Tudor's sophisticated technology, truly bringing together the wisdom of the two brands.
In addition to these new models, the Black Bay collection will also introduce a completely revamped steel and yellow gold model. Available in four sizes, with a fixed bezel and a self-adjustable five-piece link bracelet, all models of the Black Bay 31/36/39/41 S&G are equipped with a manufacture caliber, including the new caliber MT5201, which is the latest addition to the Tudor movement lineup. *Scheduled for release in July
