WORLD BREAKFAST ALLDAY, a cafe restaurant in Gaienmae, will be serving "Taiwanese Breakfast" (1,500 yen) from January 5 to February 28, 2016. Taiwan, which celebrates the Chinese New Year in February, is a popular destination for Japan, thanks to its many pro-Japan residents. The indigenous people have cultivated a diverse culture that blends influences from China, Japan, the West, and other countries. Eating out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner is common in Taiwan, where food is so important. There are even restaurants specializing in breakfast. The cafe will be serving three popular Taiwanese breakfast items on one plate. The soy milk soup, "Salty Doujiang," is made with vinegar, giving it a soft, tofu-like consistency, and is generously topped with fried dough sticks, dried shrimp, pickled mustard greens, and other toppings. Additionally, there will be "danbing," a chewy omelet filled with cheese and ham, and "fantowan," rice balls made with glutinous rice and filled with fillings. Other items on offer include Taiwan's national drink, "michan," and the warm dessert "douhua." There will also be a number of Taiwan-related workshops and other events held during the event.
