For the first time in 10 years, a national touring exhibition looking back on the 30-year career of comedian Jimmy Onishi, known for his shocking laughter delivered by his natural personality, will be held at Ginza Mitsukoshi. In addition to unreleased new series, the exhibition will cover works from a variety of eras, from his early days to his time living abroad. From exhibitions and merchandise sales to events, come to Ginza Mitsukoshi to experience the world of this one-of-a-kind artist, Jimmy Onishi.

★Jimmy Onishi


He is currently active on numerous TV programs, using the shocking laughter he delivers from his quirky character as his weapon. He is also famous for his many quirky anecdotes and is a comedian known for his many one-liners. He received praise from artists Tadanori Yokoo and Taro Okamoto in Yomiuri TV's project "Jimmy Onishi's Debut in the Art World." He held his first solo exhibition in 1993 and began working full-time as a painter.
2022 will mark 30 years as an artist.
- Biography -
Born in Osaka in 1964.
Joined Yoshimoto Kogyo in 1982.
1992: Attracted attention when he exhibited his paintings as part of a television program.
1993: Held his first solo exhibition in Shibuya.
1996: He took a break from show business to devote himself to painting, and moved to Spain, the land of Picasso.
1997: Jimmy Onishi Art Exhibition toured nationwide.
1999: Received the Order of Cultural Merit from the Para state government in Brazil.
Created the original artwork for the commemorative stamp for the 23rd World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships.
2000: Held the Jimmy Onishi Original Art Exhibition (Tokyo).
2002: Held the solo exhibition "Jimmy Onishi's Energy of Nature" (Tokyo and Kyoto).
2003: His work was used for the label design for Beaujolais Nouveau.
2008: After moving to Spain, he wandered around the world, living in Japan and elsewhere, before settling in January on the Mediterranean island of Malta, which became his second home. Held the "Fragments of a Dream" exhibition, which toured 12 venues across the country and drew an overwhelming number of visitors.
2012: Held the "Jimmy Onishi "Dreamworks" exhibition at the Gucci Shinjuku store.
2012: Held the solo exhibition "Challenge and Innovation" to commemorate his 20th anniversary as a painter.
Started at Ginza Mitsukoshi and toured the country, drawing an overwhelming number of visitors.
2015: He took a break from painting.
