Gus Van Sant, the American film director and photographer known for films such as "Elephant," "Drugstore Cowboy," and "My Own Private Idaho," is currently holding a major retrospective at the French cultural institution Cinémathèque Française, boasting one of the world's leading film archives. This book is a monograph published in conjunction with the exhibition.

In addition to introducing the full range of Gus Van Sant's work, including photography, painting, and music, the book also includes an unpublished interview conducted in June 2015 by the exhibition's curator, Matthew Orléan.
