Painter Yudai Nishi's new solo exhibition, "PEPPER," will be held at Gallery VOILLD in Nakameguro, Tokyo, from July 15th to 31st.
Based in Tokyo, Yudai Nishi depicts familiar motifs, or motifs that have transformed into unique forms, using simple, stripped-down, powerful lines and intense, bright colors. While his works may seem familiar at first glance, they ironically reflect the diverse values we have regarding material things in modern times, the complex and intricate forms of communication, and the diversifying nature of individuality.
The exhibition will feature approximately 30 new works based on the theme of "pepper," including painted works on various sizes of irregularly shaped panels and flat silkscreen works. Limited-edition merchandise, such as T-shirts and socks, will also be available for purchase at the venue.
