Tacos and tortillas! Enjoy authentic Mexican cuisine at Diesel's "Glorious Chain Cafe"

Jun 16, 2016

Glorious Chain Cafe, an international diner operated by DIESEL, will be holding a limited-time Mexican fair from June 17th to August 31st. The fair will feature a variety of spicy and healthy dishes based on authentic Mexican recipes. The "Taco Gathering Plate" (1,980 yen) is a fun taco plate where you can wrap as many different ingredients as you like in a tortilla. It features three types of meat, Glorious-style: pechuga (chicken), pork carnitas, and Mexican chorizo. The "Glorious Tacos with Nachos, Chipotle Salad, and Soup" (1,130 yen) is an original taco topped with cabbage, avocado, techuga, cilantro, and salsa sauce on a tortilla. Add your choice of chipotle, a smoked chili pepper essential to Mexican cuisine, to taste. Other items on offer include the "Nachos'mores" (760 yen), a new hybrid dessert that combines the contrast between hot and cold, the saltiness of nachos, and the sweetness of s'mores and chocolate, as well as the Mexican-style "Mexican Chicken Burger" (1,280 yen), made with chicken marinated in a variety of spices, including oregano, cumin, paprika, and chili powder, and topped with onion, guacamole, purple cabbage, tomato, and cilantro. The Shinsaibashi store also offers the "Mexican Gathering Plan," a set menu featuring tacos, chicken fajitas, a quinoa and walnut green salad, and nachos'mores. Tortillas are all-you-can-eat, and can be enjoyed for 4,000 yen per person, with a minimum of two people, including food and drinks. Drinks include Tecate (¥650), Mexico's most popular national beer; Coronarita (¥880), a beer cocktail made with a cute Corona bottled Coronita and a frozen blue margarita; Orange Paloma (¥760), an orange-flavored take on Mexico's most famous cocktail, the Paloma; Frozen Mojito (¥820), a frozen mojito; and Inca Cola (¥520), inspired by the golden Inca Empire. During the event, take a photo of a Mexican menu item and post it on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook with the hashtag "#gloriouschaincafe" to receive a free drink of your choice. Eligible drinks include Tecate beer, Orange Paloma, coffee, tea, cafe latte, cola, ginger ale, and orange juice.

Other events linked to the fair will be held in Shibuya, Tokyo on July 1st and in Shinsaibashi, Osaka on July 2nd, with a "LATIN" theme and featuring DJ SARASA, who is active on the world stage. The price is 1,000 yen, including one drink.
