The 3rd Girls' Jewelry Tokyo, showcasing the latest trends in jewelry for girls, is currently being held at Tokyo Big Sight from January 21st to 24th. Held in conjunction with the 26th International Jewelry Exhibition, visitors can enjoy a variety of exhibits at the same venue.
According to the organizers, "girls" has two meanings. One refers to the younger generation, primarily in their 20s and 30s. The other refers to the "girls" in "girls' mind." In other words, it refers to a "playful, stylish, and fashionable" aesthetic. Jewelry that embodies both of these meanings and deserves the title "girls' jewelry" is "lighter than jewelry and richer than accessories."
The venue is packed with high-quality design items at affordable prices, captivating visitors. Naturally, there will be a wide variety of styles and materials, from simple pieces that maximize the texture of the stones to ear accessories that are both stylish and comfortable, ensuring no earlobe pain. Each brand's unique pieces will be on display. Additionally, there will be a wide selection of ear hooks and ear clips, which have become popular in department stores in recent years. Prices range from under ¥10,000 for affordable pieces to around ¥100,000 for more expensive pieces using natural stones, making them accessible to women in their 20s. Another benefit is the opportunity to hear directly from the makers in-store. In addition, a workshop venue will be set up in a corner of the venue, where seminars will be held over two days, on the 22nd and 23rd, featuring department store buyers and fashion magazine editors-in-chief. Speaking on the morning of the 22nd were Ikuyo Yoshida, buyer for the ESTNATION product department, and Chika Tsuzuki, editor-in-chief of INFAS Publications' "WWD Japan" and "WWD Beauty." Each lecturer used slides to present their work on the themes of "Spring/Summer 2015 Jewelry and Accessory Trends" and "Changing Jewelry and Accessory Trends amid Fashion Trends." According to Yoshida, Spring/Summer 2015 will see a surge in items centered around the keywords "70s" and "Bohemian," with many pieces incorporating "Gypsy" and "Folklore" elements. Along with this trend, accessories such as Bohemian necklaces with adjustable string lengths are expected to become increasingly popular. Ear accessories for women without pierced ears will also continue to attract attention, with demand for ear clips and ear hooks expected to grow. On the 23rd, a buyer of accessories from the Women's Accessories Division of Isetan Mitsukoshi and the Head of Accessories Product Department of the Women's Apparel Division of Hankyu Hanshin Department Stores will appear. Seminars on the themes of "Merchandise Merchandise Strategies for Acquiring New Customers in Their 20s and 30s" and "Product and Experience Proposals Targeting Women in Their 20s and 30s" are scheduled.
In addition, on the evening of the 22nd, the awards ceremony for the winners of the 26th Japan Jewelry Best Dresser Awards will be held at the same venue. The winners by generation are: Teens - Kanna Hashimoto, 20s - Mirei Kiritani, 30s - Kyoko Fukada, 40s - Rie Miyazawa, 50s - Nagisa Katahira, and 60s - Ran Ito.
