Takashi Murakami's directorial debut, "Jellyfish Eyes," visual unveiled; theme song by Hatsune Miku

Dec 19, 2012

The film poster and trailer for "Jellyfish Eyes," artist Takashi Murakami's directorial debut and a film celebrating the 10th anniversary of TOHO Cinemas Roppongi Hills, have been released. The poster features Murakami's signature eye icon, and features the film's character, "Kuragebo." The tagline, "You'll surely feel a deep fondness for your childhood," conveys the message that the film is filled with Murakami's own childhood dreams and will help audiences relive their own childhood dreams. The theme song will be performed by Kazu (kz), a creator who gained attention for his Google Chrome commercial song, "Tell Your World." The main theme, "Last Night, Good Night," which Murakami personally requested be performed, will be sung by the Vocaloid Hatsune Miku. The film's protagonist is an elementary school student named Masashi. When he moves into a new house and finds a mysterious creature that emerges from a cardboard box, he names it "Jellyfish Boy" and becomes friends with it. When he takes "Jellyfish Boy" to his new school, he finds that his classmates also have mysterious creatures called "Friends" that adults cannot see... A new sci-fi fantasy is born, fusing elements of Murakami Takashi's special effects and film work with the chaos of modern Japan.
