The Hara Museum of Contemporary Art in Shinagawa, Tokyo, will host a photography exhibition by Mika Ninagawa, titled "Ninagawa Mika: Self-image." The exhibition runs from January 24th to May 10th.

The exhibition will feature a series of black-and-white self-portraits, which Ninagawa has been taking intermittently since the early days of her career. These are works that Ninagawa describes as "close to life, unarmed," and this will be the first exhibition to focus on these photographs. Other works on display include "PLANT A TREE," a series of photographs of cherry blossoms falling on the surface of the Meguro River, and numerous works from her "noir" series, which captures the inseparable nature of life and death.

In addition, Ninagawa's works will be displayed across the entire window of the museum's signature staircase. The black-and-white photographs, printed on transparent film, create a fantastical space, as if embodying human memories in the real world. Additionally, a new installation with large video projections on three walls and music by Shibuya Keiichiro will be unveiled, inviting visitors into a sea of images.

During the exhibition, Ninagawa's solo exhibitions will also be held at three galleries in Tokyo. The "noir" series will be on display at "8/ ART GALLERY/ TOMIO KOYAMA GALLERY" in Shibuya Hikarie. The photo exhibition "Portraits & Flowers" will be held at the gallery "CAPSULE" and cafe restaurant "SUNDAY" in Ikejiri.
