Sacai's SS15 collection showcased a remarkable refinement of its hybrid techniques. This season, the brand incorporated various elements into its hybrid collection, based on military and other utility wear and uniforms. Military jackets were paired with chiffon blouses, and uniforms with lace. A balance was achieved by combining strength and weakness. The insert technique was simply incredible. Every detail, even the tiniest wedge-shaped insets, was meaningful. A closer look at each piece reveals how they were both deconstructed and fused. The crotch of the pants connects to the top like a ruffle. The combination of MA-1 jackets, Napoleon jackets, and corsets, transcending purpose and interior/exterior boundaries, creates a modern mashup of techniques pioneered by their predecessors. Sacai was featured prominently at the long-established Parisian department store Bon Marché when the collection was unveiled in September. Future developments remain to be seen.
