Prada's SS15 visuals showcase the contradictions between freedom and restraint, creating new beauty

Jan 30, 2015

Prada has unveiled its Spring/Summer 2015 campaign. Photographer Steven Meisel captures a stoic, psychedelic, and intimate mood. Can a woman feel confident yet relaxed, appear free and easy, yet still in control? This contradiction is explored through images shot from various perspectives of the models and the collection. The models chosen for the campaign are Gemma Ward, Julia Nobis, and Aine Niefs. The collection, which combines recycled antique brocade fabric from the 1800s to the 1960s with cotton, gauze, and raw leather, features silk jacquard socks, creating a modern and elegant image. The women in the images appear powerful and provocative in black-and-white photographs, and youthful and dynamic in pastel graphics. Each bag's shape and characteristics are reinterpreted in Meisel's own style. The way it is casually placed in the bedroom gives a sense of momentary freedom.
