Ayako Kawahara arrives in a chocolate-colored Renault to celebrate the opening of Salon du Chocolat

Jan 21, 2015

The Parisian chocolate festival, Salon du Chocolat 2015, will be held at the Shinjuku NS Building from January 21st to 25th. A large number of media representatives gathered early in the morning for a press preview held at the building on the 20th, prior to the event. Cameras flashed in unison as model Ayako Kawahara and Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings President Hiroshi Onishi made a dashing entrance at the opening ceremony in a "Ganache" model, a limited-edition (100 units) Renault "Lutecia," which was released on the same day. As its name suggests, "Ganache" is a beautiful chocolate color. The Lutecia's design theme, "LOVE = falling in love," is superimposed on the image of bittersweet ganache, evoking the sweet, sometimes bittersweet, beginning of love, like chocolate. As the couple stepped out of the car, François Jeantet and Sylvie Douce, organizers of the Paris Salon du Chocolat, were waiting for them on stage. François expressed his gratitude, saying, "I'm extremely grateful to President Onishi and all the Japanese chocolatiers who came to the Salon du Chocolat in Paris in 2014." Onishi then revealed his vision: "While following the example of Paris, I want to develop a new Salon du Chocolat with a uniquely Japanese sensibility." Kawahara continued, "When I was in Paris (as a model), one piece of chocolate a day was a source of energy and courage. I'd be thrilled if this festival could become a huge hit in Japan as well."
