Liam Hodges, in his second season at MAN, showed a layered look with a pocketed apron, inspired by the money pockets used in street markets. Inspired by the image of a market trader in a rural town, he presented workwear and patchwork sweatshirts that had faded to a pale white. His somewhat rebellious, aggressive vibe has been consistent since his debut. RORY PARNELL MOONEY, appearing at MAN for the first time, showed a long, layered look in mainly navy and black, inspired by the clothing worn by religious figures, mainly in Europe. His pleated pants resembled hakama. Nicomede Talavera, also showing at MAN, drew inspiration from the Muslim boys he grew up with in the suburbs of London, fusing traditional Muslim clothing with sportswear. However, with plenty of pleats around the waist and at the hems of the wide-leg pants, strings hanging down everywhere, and even a bag with a robe that was said to be inspired by obi (sashes), it looks a bit monk-like to Japanese eyes.
To promote merino wool, the International Woolmark Prize, a competition to find the best merino wool collection by young designers, announced the winner of its first men's category as part of London Collections: Men. Out of five finalists from 61 brands from 21 countries, the winner was Public School from New York, USA. The winning design will be commercialized and sold at Matches (online), Harvey Nichols, 10 Corso Como, Saks Fifth Avenue, Joyce, Isetan, and David Jones. The other four finalists were Cisse (Japan), Strateas Carlucci (Australia), Asger Juell Larsen (Denmark), and The Emperor 1688 (United Arab Emirates).
Also making its first appearance at London Men's Fashion Week, British brand Barbour presented a main collection of classic tweed jackets and signature wax jackets inspired by tweed items featured in a 1919 catalogue, as well as a collection in collaboration with White Mountaineering. The collaborative line features prints inspired by Japan's rough seas in new colours, used on a variety of items including jackets, trousers, and bags.
