
Fashion designer Mary Quant was born on February 11, 1934, in London, England. She studied illustration at Goldsmiths, University of London. In 1955, she opened the boutique "BAZAAR" on King's Road in Chelsea with her partner Alexander Blanket Green. In 1957, they opened a second store in Knightsbridge. Around 1958, she introduced the miniskirt, which became a huge hit. She also invented hot pants, long boots, and colored tights, becoming a household name as a representative brand of "Swinging London." In 1966, she launched her cosmetics line, "Mary Quant Cosmetics," and was awarded the Order of the British Empire for her contributions to the miniskirt. In 1969, she was inducted into the RDI Hall of Fame. She first visited Japan in 1972 and has since made frequent visits, and in 1983, she launched a collection of leotards, tights, and socks for the Japanese market.
He resigned from his own brand in 2000.
