Architect Frank Gehry was born on February 28, 1929, in Toronto, Canada. He moved to Los Angeles in 1947 and studied at the University of Southern California and Harvard University. He moved to Paris in 1961 and worked under architects such as André Lemondet. He then returned to the United States and established an architectural practice with young architects. In 1978, he made his stunning architectural debut with the "Gehry House." Using low-cost industrial materials and eschewing the concept of "complete form," this building became a precursor to the "deconstructivism" movement that emerged in the late 1980s. He subsequently created numerous works, including the California Aerospace Museum (1984) and the gigantic 21-meter-long fish sculpture "Fish Dance" (Kobe, 1987). His free-spirited, playful, and humorous designs captivated people worldwide, and in 1989 he was awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize, known as the Nobel Prize of architecture. Other notable works include the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao (1997) and the Walt Disney Concert Hall (2003).

He is also well-versed in software technology, and founded Gehry Technologies to commercialize the cutting-edge technology used in his designs. He has also been designing jewelry for Tiffany since 2006, and last year released a new lighting piece called "Fish Lamps."

In January of this year, construction was completed on the Louis Vuitton Foundation for Creation, a museum designed by the LVMH group, which he also designed. It is scheduled to open within the year.
