Fritz Hansen 150th Anniversary - A testament to timeless design

Feb 28, 2022
To celebrate its 150th anniversary, Fritz Hansen will hold an exhibition at Kudan House in Tokyo that expresses the company's current state, woven through its history.

Fritz Hansen has shaped the contours of Scandinavian design, working with masters who have made a decisive difference in furniture design, such as Arne Jacobsen, Poul Kjærholm, and Hans J. Wegner. These contours continue to inspire new designs, working with world-renowned designers such as Cecilie Manz, Jaime Hayon, and Kasper Salto.

The exhibition will be held at Kudan House in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo. Completed in 1927, this miraculous structure has survived the turbulent times, while many surrounding buildings were destroyed during the Pacific War, and has continued to preserve its original appearance to this day.

This exhibition will introduce the history of Fritz Hansen, and will also pay homage to Room 606 of the SAS Royal Hotel, for which Arne Jacobsen was responsible for everything from architecture to interior and product design, as well as displaying anniversary models of classic furniture, and allowing visitors to see, touch, and experience the current Fritz Hansen collection.

Dates: Saturday, April 16th - Friday, April 29th, 2022
Time: 10:00-18:00
Venue: Kudan House
1-15-9 Kudankita, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo
