Mintdesigns has collaborated with mt, a masking tape made from washi paper, for an exhibition at the G8 Creation Gallery in Tokyo's Ginza district (1F, Recruit Ginza 8 Building, 8-4-17 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo) from August 27th to September 11th. The exhibition will feature "paper clothes" made by mintdesigns using tracing paper and masking tape. Seven installations, including coats, dresses, and skirts that make use of the transparency of paper, will be combined with original and existing mt patterns, including doll-like and jagged patterns. In addition to mintdesigns, original mt pieces will be on display, created in collaboration with illustrator Mizumaru Anzai, who passed away in the spring of 2014; picture book author Ed Emberley; artists Philippe Weisbecker and Paul Cox; and graphic designer Tadanori Yokoo. Each tape costs between 360 and 630 yen, and the tape pattern varies depending on the design. There will be a corner at the venue where you can make a tin badge with your favorite mt (300 yen), and the popular mt lineup will also be on sale.

mt is produced at the masking tape specialist factory of Kamoi Kakoshi, a manufacturer specializing in industrial tape founded in Kurashiki, Okayama in 1923. A 20-color set of tape debuted in 2008 and won the Good Design Award that same year. The company has collaborated with many designers and apparel manufacturers, including mina perhonen and Lisa Larson, and has released over 200 types of tape to date.
