To commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Maison's founder, Louis Vuitton, the "LOUIS 200" project has been underway since August 2021. As part of this project, the Japanese version of the biographical novel "Louis Vuitton, l'audacieux," featuring the founder Louis Vuitton, which was published in French and English by Louis Vuitton and Galimard last fall, titled "Louis Vuitton: The Bold One," will be released on February 15th.

Due to a poor relationship with his stepmother, Louis left his childhood watermill at the age of just 14, wearing only his wooden shoes and without a penny. Armed only with determination and the name Vuitton, meaning "stubborn" in Jura, the boy traveled two years on foot to Paris, where he secured a job at the Maréchal, Faubourg Saint-Honoré's most prestigious crate manufacturer and packer. From then on, fortune continued to favor Louis.

Author Caroline Bongrand vividly and enthusiastically chronicles the intrepid young man's rise to success in a Paris transformed by Baron Haussmann, Prefect of the Seine. A skilled artisan and visionary, Louis Vuitton was befriended by a Spanish heiress, Eugenia de Montijo, who entrusted him with packing duties and continued to rely on him even after his marriage to Napoleon III and his subsequent ascension to Empress of the French (Eugénie de Montijo). In 1854, Louis Vuitton opened his eponymous store and launched a series of revolutionary ideas. Inspired by the glamour and energy of the Second Empire, he carved out a life straight out of a novel by designing trunks to safely transport luxurious clothing and store essentials for long-distance travel.

Regarding this film, Caroline Bongrand said: "I hope to leave readers with the realization that whatever we achieve in life is founded on hard work, good conduct, strong values, and courage. Louis started out with nothing but ambition and worked hard towards his goals. He remained humble but achieved his hopes and dreams.

I also hope readers will realize that for every great man, there is always a woman—or two!—by his side.

I would also like readers to be able to sense the atmosphere of the now-forgotten 19th century, when so many people, including Louis, competed for invention. It was a great pleasure as a writer to be able to depict the transformation of Paris at that time—from the medieval Paris before Napoleon III's massive transformation entrusted to Haussmann, to the dashing, glorious Paris afterwards."
