In this series, we introduce makeup tips for this fall from the 2014-2015 AW collection. The ninth installment is from JILL STUART.
The makeup is inspired by a boy, in keeping with the collection's depiction of a "rebellious adult woman" who, like a boy, has the freedom to choose the clothes she wants to wear and isn't easily swayed by others. Makeup artist Aaron De Mey cited the keywords "IRREGULAR BEAUTY," "UNTAMEABLE," "BOYISH," and "ADORNED."
The key is determined eyes. Dark eyeliner is applied over a soft gradation of nude tones. To emphasize the lower eyelid more than the upper, the upper lashes were drawn slightly thinner, while the lower lashes were lined with four slightly thicker eyelashes in four different shades: dark green, dark navy, dark purple, and black, creating a framing effect.
The base was a semi-matte finish with a soft, bright, and highly translucent texture, and loose powder was carefully applied to the forehead, chin, and sides of the nose to create a beautiful, three-dimensional effect and a natural finish.
The blush was blended well, almost as if no effort had been made, creating a naturally flushed impression. A colorless lip balm was applied to the lips to create a subtle, natural glow.
The keyword for this hairstyle, created by hair artist James Pecis, was "messy." After thoroughly brushing and styling the entire hair, the artist used a brush and hair dryer, and then used an iron in selected areas to gently curl the hair starting above the ears. She then split the hair into two sections with a center part, twisted them together, and secured them in place with pins. She left the hair in this state for 30 to 60 minutes, then removed the pins just before the show, creating a loose, random, and irregular wave look.
