Alexander Wang presented his Spring/Summer 2017 men's collection. This season, he reimagined familiar all-American silhouettes, incorporating elements of leisure and sports, to create a completely different style. The collection embodies the image of a man surviving the fast pace of an eclectic society while exuding the confidence and virility of an Ivy League educated man. Incorporating a variety of eye-catching and impactful patterns, including tartan, stripes, multi-borders, and leopard print, the collection fuses Wang's signature "sporty" ideas across time. Preppy, oversized Nautica jackets are paired with jacquard knits for a classic look, while traditional check patterns are paired with chef pants and soccer shorts for a bold look. Japanese-made compact tech knitwear also features a traditional touch, such as a fishtail parka or a handmade tie-dye hoodie adorned with loop ties. Continuing from last season, elements of college athletic wear are incorporated into the collection, including knitted rugby shirts, lambskin and suede coach jackets, and faded referee jerseys. His signature graphics and text are updated with cheeky embroidery and jacquard weaves. Accents include peacock hats, created in collaboration with KANGOL®. Footwear includes sneakers in a striking color palette inspired by skate culture and lightweight espadrilles. This collection fuses the concept of pop culture as an overwhelming subculture with different concepts such as street, preppy, workwear, and hip-hop, offering a humorous and subversive look at the everyday lives of adults. This revolutionary of the fashion world, absorbing eccentric and diverse contemporary culture and elevating it to street style, shows no signs of ending anytime soon.
