Louis Vuitton re-releases Pierre Paulin's unreleased project

Dec 5, 2014

At Design Miami 2014, Louis Vuitton unveiled furniture recreating designs by furniture designer Pierre Paulin. In 1972, the renowned French furniture designer collaborated on a residential project for Herman Miller, a company that produces office furniture. The project sought to create a more personal spatial configuration by controlling people's relationships with their surroundings. Its purpose was to intentionally block out most of the information coming in from the outside world. However, the project never came to fruition, and today it can only be seen in a model exhibited at the Pompidou Center, a comprehensive cultural facility in Paris. The model is divided into six floors, with the basic modules on display on the first floor. The remaining five floors showcase examples of furniture combinations, allowing users to imagine their own furniture arrangements. The brand has now recreated the project for the modern era. A teaser video has also been released.
