Dick Bruna is a picture book author famous for the "Miffy" series of books. He is also a graphic designer and has left behind many masterpieces, including the covers and posters for the paperback series "Black Bear." This exhibition is a traveling exhibition that was held at Matsuya Ginza from April 19 to May 8, 2017, and will now come to a close in Yokohama.
Focusing on the simplicity that is a common thread throughout Dick Bruna's work, the exhibition will feature approximately 500 items, including over 200 paper bags, approximately 40 original designs and sketches, as well as approximately 30 original illustrations from picture books such as Miffy and Boris, and reproductions of posters.
In addition, with simplicity as the keyword, four active artists in the Japanese design world - KIGI, groovisions, Io Nakamura, and mintdesigns - will present new works inspired by Bruna's work under the theme "Simple Tomorrow."
