On December 3rd, actress Aya Ueto appeared at the Nissan Ginza Gallery in Tokyo for the lighting ceremony for the "Ginza Illumination Hikarimichi," which illuminates Ginza Street and Harumi Street. This year, the third annual event, titled "Hikarimichi—Circle of Hope," will illuminate the 1.5km stretch of Ginza Street and Harumi Street with 183,000 specially developed champagne gold LEDs and 74 towers of light. Ueto appeared in a lustrous sleeveless dress by Giorgio Armani. Regarding Ginza, she said, "I often go for a stroll with my mother, eating and shopping. It has a glamorous, grown-up image, so it's a place that's still out of my reach." She continued, "At this time of year, it smells like couples. I'm so envious of the people who can walk among these illuminations with their loved ones."
Regarding the illuminations, she said with a sparkle in her eyes, "The large, medium and small rings look like rings, and it's so beautiful, it's like jewelry is on display."
The illuminations will be held for 48 days, from December 3rd to January 19th, 2014. During this period, charity donation boxes to support Tohoku reconstruction will be set up in brand shops and various stores in Ginza, and all donations collected will be donated to the National Federation of UNESCO Associations in Japan, a public interest incorporated association.
