Matsuya Ginza to install first rooftop skating rink in department store, also featuring a bar

Dec 9, 2013

Matsuya Ginza will be installing the "SORA×NIWA×ICE PARK," the first rooftop skating rink in a Japanese department store, on its rooftop starting December 13th. The rink will run until March 2nd, 2014.

Under the concept of "A skating rink that brings couples closer together—ice for love," the park will provide a date spot for couples and a landmark for women in their 20s and 30s, aiming to attract a new customer base. The park is targeting approximately 30,000 visitors.
The space will be themed around a silver forest, featuring white trees and illuminated illuminations. A 10-minute artificial snow display will be held every night starting at 8:00 PM. In addition to the skating rink, the venue will also feature a bar serving food, including soup from "Reccorni Apel Uccellino" on Matsuya Ginza's basement floor, soft drinks like hot chocolate, and hot cocktails like hot sangria and hot mojitos.

Opening hours are from 11:00 to 22:00 (last admission at 21:00, last food and drink orders at 21:30). Admission, including shoe rental, is 2,100 yen until 17:00 on the day, and 2,900 yen thereafter. The flat rate for elementary school students and younger is 700 yen. Discounts are available if you make a reservation in advance.
