UNIQLO, whose creative director, NIGO(R), took over as creative director in the Spring/Summer 2014 collection, unveiled its UT collection for the first time in Japan. Ten years after its launch in 2003, UT is renewing its manufacturing this season, returning to the origins of the T-shirt. The collection features a rounded body made of circular knit with no side seams, and graphic prints and materials carefully selected for their contemporary appeal. The collection features 35 graphic designs, including characters from Disney, Peanuts, Sanrio, LINE Friends, and, making its first appearance, The Simpsons, as well as ceramic designers Jonathan Adler and Lisa Larson, fabric brand Valdrome, Kyoto-based art publisher Geisoudo, and bicycle manufacturer Schwinn. Approximately 1,000 items will be available for sale. The collection features materials and prints with a vintage feel that is typical of NIGO(R).

One of the most notable items is a graphic T-shirt featuring popular Sanrio characters, with Hello Kitty wearing My Melody. This is said to be the first time this design has been seen.

Prices range from 990 yen to 2,990 yen. T-shirts, tank tops, and sweatshirts are available. The collection will be fully launched in February and March of next year. Some items are already on sale.
