From December 4th to 10th, a collaborative event called "Happy Christmas" was held at the Hikari no Hiroba on the first floor of the Jozenji Dori Building of Sendai Mitsukoshi, in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the opening of Sendai Mitsukoshi and the 80th anniversary of the release of Ezaki Glico's popular snack "Bisco."
The event featured limited edition products commemorating the 80th anniversary of Bisco's release, limited sales from "Glico-ya," a store selling original Glico products, and an exhibition of nostalgic Bisco packaging and the history of the toy. Also, on the first day, the 4th, a photo session was held with Paradise Yamamoto, the official Japanese Santa Claus of the Greenland International Santa Claus Association, attracting more customers than expected.
On the 7th and 8th, a "Let's deepen parent-child bonds! Parent-child kiss event" was held, where children who kissed their family members received a "Bisco mini pack" as a gift. The event was packed with smiles from visitors, with fathers eagerly participating to receive kisses from their children and elementary school boys shyly kissing their mothers. The store was bustling with families.
Since its launch in 1933, Bisco, the cream sandwich biscuit, has been a best-seller. This year, marking its 80th anniversary, various special events are being held. In January, the company released a mook book, "HAPPY BISCO MOOK" (Switch Publishing), featuring Mika Ninagawa and Ellie Omiya, which became a hot topic. The "80th Anniversary Special Bisco Can" (1,680 yen), a golden can containing 20 "80th Anniversary Special Bisco Mini Packs," was a best-seller that temporarily sold out upon its release in August (sales of the 80th Anniversary Special Bisco Can will end at the end of 2013). On December 20th, Ezaki Glico opened its 15th Glico-exclusive shop, Glico-ya, in the new facility Tsutenkaku Wakuwaku Land, which will open on the site of the former Tsutenkaku Underground Music Theatre in Osaka.
