The "Power of Art - WA by Young Artists Celebrating the New Year" exhibition will be held from January 2nd to 5th in the event space on the 7th floor of the main building. This is a new initiative by the department store.
The concept is "Stimulating the senses and the heart with fashion and art." Works by approximately 70 artists, ranging from art students to young artists, including Japanese and Western-style paintings, prints, and three-dimensional works, will be exhibited and sold. Prices start at around 10,000 yen, making them accessible to customers who have never purchased art before.
During the exhibition, more than 10 young artists who created their works will visit the exhibition every day and engage in conversations with visitors, proposing an interactive approach to art. Some artists will also perform live paintings in front of their own creations. The participating artists will collaborate on a theme of "Landscapes with Isetan," creating a total of four works, one each day.
In the special corner, works of the same size painted by 75 artists will be on display, all with the theme of "auspicious signs" (signs that portend good fortune, such as first Mt. Fuji, second a hawk, and third an eggplant).
During the exhibition, there will also be a talk show with art teller Toni, who will convey the joy of art. There will be four talk shows, from 2pm and 4pm on January 4th, and from 1pm and 3pm on the 5th. All shows will be held in the art gallery on the 5th floor of the main building.
"We hope you will enjoy looking at what young Japanese artists are interested in right now and what they want to express," said the buyer in charge.
