Gallery Speak For in Daikanyama will be holding "I Have Eyes," a solo exhibition by artist Masafumi Kamei, former member of the band Scha Dara Parr. The exhibition will run from December 20th to January 15th.
This exhibition, following Kamei's solo exhibition held in June of this year, will showcase his acrylic painting series. As the title suggests, many of the works feature eyes as key icons. Approximately 30 original acrylic paintings, both large and small, will be on display and for sale, as well as new original items such as T-shirts, bags, and mugs. An artist talk will be held on the first day, December 20th, at 6:30 PM, with Scha Dara Parr's Bose as the interlocutor.
Kamei was born in Shizuoka Prefecture in 1963. He graduated from the Dress Design Department of Kuwasawa Design School and the Oil Painting Department of the Faculty of Art and Design at Musashino Art University. While studying at Kuwasawa, he was an original member of Scha Dara Parr and has been active in a wide range of fields, including creating the cover illustration for Scha Dara Parr's supplementary reader, "Yodan." In addition to realistic oil paintings created with the orthodox nuances of oil paint and precise brushwork, he has also pursued and developed his own unique acrylic paintings.
