Hiroyuki Kawashima's photo exhibition "Sublime Days" is currently on view at Idem Photo Gallery from December 20th.
Hiroyuki Kawashima, a photographer who focuses on flamenco, followed the Mayumi Kagita and Hiroki Sato Flamenco Dance Troupe's 2005 Spanish performance of "Joy" from rehearsals through to the performance, capturing not only the performance itself but also the troupe's daily lives and places connected to flamenco.
This marks the first time that a foreign flamenco troupe has performed at the Villamarta Theater in Jerez, Spain, the birthplace of flamenco. Through the images of dancers who approach their art with a sense of awe for the history and culture of flamenco, this photo exhibition conveys the dignity of human beings who live dedicated lives.
