Valentino has unveiled the campaign visuals for its Spring/Summer 2016 collection. The images were shot by photojournalist Steve McCurry, whose portrait "Afghan Girl," which appeared on the cover of the June 1985 issue of National Geographic magazine, ignited a worldwide sensation. Based on the theme of mutual understanding between different African cultures, the campaign expresses through fashion the need for creativity to embrace new aesthetics and ethics. The images were taken in the Masai region of Kenya's Amboseli National Park. Valentino Creative Directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli commented, "McCurry's photographs tell stories that invite us to imagine what happened before and after the shots, reflecting the meaning of dreams. His concept is consistent with our approach to fashion."
