Over 6,000 people line up at Shinjuku Isetan, Mitsukoshi Isetan winter sale gets off to a strong start

Jan 15, 2014

Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings' winter clearance sale kicked off at major stores in the Tokyo metropolitan area on January 15th. At the Isetan Shinjuku store, a combined total of approximately 6,100 people lined up before opening time in both the main building and the men's building. This marked a 65% increase compared to last year's winter clearance, marking a strong start.

In the morning, customers flocked to specially set up areas for popular brands such as Tory Burch, Sacai, Anna Sui, M Premier, and Re-Style. The women's shoe floor was so crowded that entry restrictions were put in place at Louboutin and Jimmy Choo. Also, since it was a weekday, housewives and grandparents with their grandchildren were prominent, and the children's clothing floor was bustling as soon as it opened.

In addition, the group's flagship stores in the Tokyo metropolitan area, Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store and Ginza Mitsukoshi, saw nearly 1,000 people lined up before opening, demonstrating a pace exceeding last year's.
