French fashion designer Jacques Heim was born on May 8, 1899. He is known as the person who invented the bikini.

The bikini was invented in 1946 by an unknown designer named Louis Réard. However, Heim, who was already highly acclaimed as a designer at the time, released a swimsuit with a nearly identical design called the "Atom" around the same time, and it is said that it was Heim who popularized the bikini.

The design, which exposed a lot of skin, was shocking when it was released, and it was not well received even in France, where it was banned from beaches.
