The 66th Cannes Film Festival came to a spectacular close after 12 days. The red carpet each day resembled a runway show of couture dresses modeled by actresses.
On the final day, May 26th, for the closing ceremony, it seemed that not only the actresses but also the female jury members prepared their best outfits.
Juror director Naomi Kawase, who wore Japanese-inspired dresses throughout the festival and exuded an aura that rivaled that of the actresses, wore a vibrant salmon-pink furisode kimono. Similarly, Indian actress Vidya Balan, a jury member who always wore traditional dresses inspired by her native country, appeared in a sari-style dress.
The juror who exuded the most gorgeous aura this year was, undoubtedly, Nicole Kidman. Since the opening, her fashion has always attracted attention, both on and off the stage. The final piece she wore was a Georgio Armani dress with a striking Swarovski gold crystal ribbon, boldly accentuating her shoulders and décolleté. Her jewelry was by Harry Winston.
Argentine actress Berenice Bejo, who won the Best Actress Award for "Le Passe," wore a chic blue cutwork lace dress by Elie Saab. Her shoes were by Christian Louboutin.
The charm and beauty of Audrey Tautou, who hosted the opening and closing ceremonies, is also unforgettable. On the final day, she appeared in a Prada dress. Her pink ribbon, a technique that is difficult for a mature woman to pull off, is a challenge. Are she and Nicole Kidman the only women in their 40s who can effortlessly pull off girly motifs and princess-like fit and flare silhouettes?
