John Lennon was born on October 9, 1940, in Liverpool, England. He passed away on December 8, 1980.
His father was away at sea as a merchant ship crew member, and his mother, Julia, was living with another man, so he grew up with his aunt, Mimi. He became interested in rock and roll after hearing Elvis Presley's "Heartbreak Hotel." He entered Quarry Bank School in 1952, where he formed the band "The Quarrymen," the precursor to the Beatles.
After graduating from Quarry Bank, he enrolled at Liverpool College of Art. The band changed its name to "The Beatles" in 1960 and debuted in October 1962 with "Love Me Do." Their second single, "Please Please Me," became a huge hit, and they gained immense popularity both at home and abroad. After the Beatles broke up in 1970, John released his solo album "John's Soul." He continued to release hits, including "Imagine" and "Bridges of Love." He met his first wife, Cynthia, while they were students at Liverpool College of Art. They married in August 1962 and had a son in April 1963. Interested in Japanese and Eastern culture, John met Yoko Ono in 1966 and began dating her, funding her solo exhibitions. After cohabiting with her, he divorced Cynthia. They married in March 1969 and had a son in 1975. He and Yoko were active in peace and anti-war movements, and they collaborated on music. However, on December 8, 1980, shortly after the release of their album "Double Fantasy," he was assassinated by a fanatical fan. He was 40 years old.
