As part of the "LUMINE meets ART" project, which displays various artworks within the building, Lumine Shinjuku will be hosting an art exhibition by illustrator Yusuke Nakamura from November 1st to January 31st.
The exhibition will take place in two elevators that stop at every floor at Lumine 1 (1-1-5 Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo). Nakamura commented, "I hope that visitors will be able to fill the blank time spent looking around in the elevator with a few seconds of art at the museum." In addition, Book First on the fifth floor of Lumine 1 will be hosting a fair featuring Nakamura's art books and calendars to coincide with the exhibition. Signed books with illustrations will also be on sale.
Nakamura is an illustrator born in Takarazuka City, Hyogo Prefecture in 1978. He has worked on the CD jackets for ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION, as well as the cover art for books such as Atsuya Higashikawa's "After Dinner Mysteries," Tomihiko Morimi's "The Night is Short, Walk on Girl," and Ira Ishida's "Thumb Lover." He also designed the characters for Morimi's original anime "The Tatami Galaxy" and Meiji Seika's "Fruit Juice Gummy," featuring "Megumi and Taiyo."
"LUMINE Meet Art" was launched in 2010 with the concept of offering customers "the usual LUMINE +α." The highly popular elevator art has featured the work of a variety of artists, including contemporary artists D[di:] and Cato Friend.
