Dress Camp unveiled its 2014 Spring/Summer collection on October 15th. The theme was "NEW WORLD," as imagined by designer Toshikazu Iwatani. The show kicked off with a background of ethnic melodies by Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra. The collection's punchy designs, featuring vibrant multicolor palettes, baroque and animal prints, chunky necklaces, metallic prints, and enamel, were still in full force. The sportswear, including zip-up blousons, sweatshirts, and jerseys, was a collaboration with Lotto, continuing from Iwatani's first collection after his return. The denim series was a collaboration with Lee, and the colored diamond jewelry was a collaboration with Evangelista. The women's dresses featured romantic designs, using animal-print satin, floral chiffon, and lace, layered with ruffles and draping, while thick socks and stiletto sandals added a sporty touch. Toward the end of the show, Iwatani showcased a darkly humorous formal look featuring pajama-style sets, dresses, and suits, all inspired by artist MADSAKI's "HAPPINESS OVERDOSE," a nosebleed smiley face. Ai Tominaga also appeared as a model. "MADSAKI's challenging concept, 'Can simply adding a little ingenuity to an existing smiley face turn it into art?'" Iwatani explained. "I incorporated a unique approach to my current craftsmanship, incorporating elements of sporty elements into dresses and tailoring sleepwear-like items into dresses, all of which reflect my unique values, into the 'NEW WORLD' theme. I was conscious of creating an image that would never be seen in an overseas collection," Iwatani said. "This is my third season since returning to Dress Camp as a designer, and communication with the new staff has really clicked."
