Actor Michael Gambon was born on October 19, 1940, in Dublin, Ireland. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, he joined London's National Theatre and primarily worked on stage. He made his film debut in 1965 in Laurence Olivier's "Othello." In 1989, he attracted attention for his role as the villain Albert in "The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover," featuring costumes by Jean Paul Gaultier. He subsequently appeared in numerous plays in London's West End and in television series, which won four BAFTA Awards for Best Television. He replaced Richard Harris in the Harry Potter film series after his death, playing the role of Headmaster Dumbledore. He appeared in the role in six films from 2004 to 2011. In 1998, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II. In his private life, he married an ordinary woman at the age of 22 and had a son. In 2007 and 2009, he also had two sons with other lovers.
