"Basically real clothes" by Alice Auaa [14SS Tokyo Collection]

Oct 22, 2013

Alice Auaa presented their Spring/Summer 2014 collection. Designer Yasutaka Funakoshi. The brand always presents a story-driven collection show. This time, they drew inspiration from Rusalka, the water goddess who transforms into a young girl who dies young.

They used a variety of white materials, ephemeral in appearance, like a short life. The willow fabric was washed and shrunk to give the impression of being drowned in water. The luxurious ruffle dress was also delicately crafted in sheer white. The feet were worn in 10-strap knee-high sandals. The legs, bound with clear vinyl, revealed a perverse amount of skin. At one point, a look was introduced in which the model wore a fish headpiece made of latex rubber, evoking the association with water. Funakoshi said, "This time, too, I've never worked with latex before." Three men's pieces were also presented. The draped style, all black, resembled a monk's.

"Alice Auaa goes well with denim and a variety of outfits. I create real clothes," Funakoshi said.
