Gucci unveils new advertising visuals, "Soul Scene," paying homage to artist Malick Sidibe

Apr 15, 2017

Gucci has unveiled its Pre-Fall 2017 collection, "Soul Scene." Inspired by portraits of nightlife and youth culture captured by African artist Malick Sidibe in his hometown of Bamako, the collection's advertising visuals capture the surging self-expression of men and women seeking to subvert conventional wisdom through art and dance performance. Photographed by Glen Luchford, the images are dynamic, vivid, and liberating, capturing the unique, athletic dance and social scene atmosphere reminiscent of Northern Soul, a cultural movement that ignited the British underground in the 1960s. The advertising campaign is scheduled to launch in mid-May.
