Japan Post Co., Ltd.'s subsidiary, Postal Merchandise Service, and Mitsukoshi Isetan Holdings and its subsidiary, Mitsukoshi Isetan Mail Order, established a joint venture, JP Mitsukoshi Merchandising (JPMM), to supply products on April 1st and launch a comprehensive catalog mail order business. While Japan Post's merchandise business has primarily focused on food, JPMM's "JP Select" catalog will primarily sell non-food items such as clothing, fashion accessories, kitchenware, and health products. This service leverages the strengths of both companies, leveraging the nationwide network of post offices rooted in local communities and the product appeal cultivated over many years by department stores to select products. The inaugural issue, titled "Birthday Festival," introduces a carefully selected selection of products, including high-quality clothing and fashion accessories, as well as functional and useful items. The lineup of products is aimed at seniors, primarily targeting those in their 40s and older who regularly use the post office.
The catalog will be available from April 16th at approximately 20,000 post offices nationwide (excluding contracted post offices) and at the post office online shop. Customers can either fill out the necessary details on the catalog sales application form available at designated post office counters and pay at the counter, or order and pay at the online shop. Products will be delivered via Yu-Pack in approximately one week to ten days after the application is accepted.
