The Taiyo no Kai, a community development support group in Maebashi, Gunma, announced that Taro Okamoto's "Bell of the Sun," which will become the city's new symbol, will be relocated in November 2017 as a symbol of Maebashi's regional revitalization.
The group is run by 24 companies based in Maebashi. As part of Maebashi's community development project, the group supports the project with activity funds contributed by 1% of each supporting company's net profits.
After restoration, the work will be relocated to private land along the Hirose River that flows through Maebashi. Architect Sou Fujimoto is in charge of designing the relocation site, which will be transformed into a space where anyone from across the country can experience the work. The project is in line with the group's concept of "people gathering and interacting around a new symbol, and new creations once again becoming 'Mebuku'."
