A limited edition of 2,000 copies of the exhibition catalogue published in conjunction with the exhibition "Disobedient Bodies: JW Anderson curates The Hepworth Wakefield" (March 18th - June 18th, 2017), currently being held at the Hepworth Wakefield gallery in Wakefield, UK, curated by fashion designer Jonathan Anderson, is now on sale in Japan in advance in limited quantities at Dover Street Market Ginza (DSMG).
The book, created in collaboration with Jonathan Anderson, design studio OK-RM, and Andrew Bonacia, uses a variety of paper types, features one work on each of its 142 pages, and is simply bound with just a rubber band. The book also features unpublished work by Jonathan Anderson's trusted photographer Jamie Hawkesworth, works from exhibitions, a conversation between Andrew and Jonathan, a text by fashion journalist Sarah Mower, works by renowned fashion designers, and numerous carefully selected works from Anderson's own collection.
"It was an opportunity to give these artworks another lease of life. This collection became another exhibition space, a place for new dialogue between the works," says Jonathan. The combinations of each spread not only reflect the actual exhibition, but also take advantage of the book's unique format to create new combinations, encouraging unexpected encounters.
The book, available for pre-order at DSMG, will be signed by Jonathan Anderson and priced at 5,600 yen.
